Dave Alm is a Brookston, Indiana, artist who paints and draws using acrylics, watercolor, charcoal, pastels, pencil and anything else that will make a mark.

Always interested in art, he has taken classes with Ben Rifner, Ruth Ade, George Pacheco, Nicholas D'Innocenzo, Robert Reed, Sechun Koretsune, Vilas Tonape, James Werner. Most of his work is portraits.

Since the studio fire in 2004 which destroyed all of his work he has been experimenting with large cartoon paintings of animals, cartoon portraits, and "cute" war machines - tanks, helicopter gunships, jets.

Alm paints regularly with his "painting buddy", Jonathan Batt. His studio is located at 307 Railroad Street in Brookston, Indiana, between his wife, Louie Laskowski's studio and the Brookston Art Center. Also in the building is Dave's father's woodworking shop. Charlie Alm builds mountain and hammered dulcimers.
